Work Title: Transit_
Philipp Eichhorn’s works arise from his observation of his immediate living environment. Through reduction and abstraction, he condenses social dynamics, personal memories, and urban spaces into a clear visual language that transcends mere representation. For the 1st openart Lausitz Biennale in 2026, Philipp Eichhorn designed the long hallway of the former administrative building at Am Markt 20 in Doberlug-Kirchhain under the title Transit_. On one side of the hallway appear the prefabricated apartment buildings of his childhood in the former GDR, and on the other side, fragments of the cab of the former F60 lignite excavator. Both visual worlds evoke change, loss, and memory. The hallway itself thus becomes a place of transition—between past and present, personal history and social upheaval. This work clearly highlights the transitional function of the long hallway in the former GDR administrative building.
