Mira Dubian (b. 2001) is a student of Slavic Studies in Leipzig. She grew up immersed in the Lower Sorbian language and culture, which she continues to actively cultivate today in both traditional and subcultural contexts. She is a member of the WAKUUM collective and also works as a Lower Sorbian translator. Her experimental film SE PADA was awarded the Special Prize of the Foundation for the Sorbian People at the 2021 Cottbus Film Festival. For PYTAŚ A NAMAKAŚ – On Searching and Finding, she co-directed and also served as producer, production manager, and translator.

Luka Lětko (*2003) is from the Wendish Spreewald region and is studying Visual Communication at the Berlin University of the Arts. In his cinematic and (photo)graphic works, he explores Sorbian/Wendish and queer identity, as well as decolonial perspectives on the Sorbian/Wendish region of Lusatia. 

He directed, wrote the screenplay for, edited, and designed the costumes for his debut film PYTAŚ A NAMAKAŚ – On Searching and Finding in 2023; his second short film, ZNICOWAS – To Destroy, also premiered in 2025 at the Cottbus/Chóśebuz Film Festival. He is a member of the WAKUUM collective for Sorbian art and (sub)culture and of the Sorbian film network Łužycafilm.

A special film contribution comes from Luka Lětko and Mira Dubian. It was awarded the Young Talent Prize by the Foundation for the Sorbian People at the 33rd Cottbus Film Festival. This Lower Sorbian coming-out film tells the story of a village, a summer, and a friendship—and of all the questions that accompany growing up. At its core are belonging and identity: Do we fit in here? Should we leave or stay? And what does it mean to be caught between cultural roots and personal self-discovery? The film addresses these tensions sensitively and directly, without offering simple answers. It opens up space for a rarely seen perspective: the question of how Sorbian identity and being trans can relate to one another. Not as a contradiction, but as a lived reality that gives rise to new forms of community and self-understanding. At the Atelierhof Werenzhain, the film by Luka Lětko and Mira Dubian will be screened in the former tractor shed, which the artists now use as a summer studio. This space, too—once a site of agricultural labor—thus becomes a place of storytelling and viewing, and with it, a bridge between the past and the present.
