At the same time, she completed a master’s degree at the Institute for Art in Context at the Berlin University of the Arts, specializing in the theory of memory culture and art in public spaces. 

Okido’s works have been presented in solo and group exhibitions both in Germany and abroad, including at the Museum of Asian Art of the Berlin State Museums, the Humboldt Forum Berlin, the Galerie der Künstler*innen in Munich, and at the Utro Art Festival at the Goethe-Institut Villa Kamogawa in Japan. Her artistic practice has been supported by numerous fellowships and grant programs, including the Goldrausch Women Artists Project, the CoMuse Fellowship Program of the Berlin State Museums, as well as grants from the State of Berlin and the Pola Art Foundation (Japan). 

Work Title: Wiederbegegnung

The project Wiederbegegnung (german for „reencounter“) explores the history of the Lieberose satellite camp of the Jamlitz concentration camp and the Soviet Special Camp No. 6 in the public space of the Jamlitz Memorial. Based on historical research and in collaboration with the local institution, flags bearing portraits of former prisoners are installed, bringing to light the site’s repressed history of violence. Through the aesthetic reinterpretation of the flag—a symbol of political power—the installation makes the destructive consequences of historical power structures tangible and, at the same time, questions the violence perpetrated by humanity, which continues unabated worldwide to this day.
