Schweiger has led the sound-video-performance collective SARDH since 1986; he has initiated and directed numerous multimedia projects, including The Wall Inside Berlin (1990), and has been organizing the annual Morphonic Lab festival in Dresden since 2000. 

He has shown his work in numerous solo and group exhibitions, with a clear focus on Saxony, including at the Leonhardi Museum in Dresden, the Neue Sächsische Galerie in Chemnitz, the Kunsthaus Dresden, and the Saxon State Parliament. In addition, his work has been featured in major institutions throughout Germany, including the German Historical Museum in Berlin, the Germanic National Museum in Nuremberg, the Rhineland State Museum in Bonn, and the Art Museum in Celle. International presentations have taken him to London, Paris, Kraków, Poznań, St. Petersburg, Mexico, Malta, and the United States, among other places.

In the former bar area—the second gallery space—Detlef Schweiger has installed his work spectra_ flexum. Thousands of used CDs come together to form a large-scale structure of reflection and light. Depending on the viewing angle, shifting spectral colors emerge, while the stored content of the discs remains invisible and inaccessible—a reference to hidden stories and past uses.
