He developed his own stage formats, such as the solo comedy show One Görl Show (starting in 2003), and was a co-founder of the Salon Oriental cabaret. As a dancer, he performed in international show productions and is considered a pioneer of Oriental dance variety. 

Since 2019, Gümüştürkmen has focused exclusively on his work as a visual artist. His works are characterized by references to various artistic eras and a playful engagement with cultural codes. With a critical and ironic twist, he challenges traditional ways of seeing and social norms, particularly with regard to identity and gender. An exploration of self-images and external attributions also forms a central starting point for his artistic practice. 

Gümüştürkmen’s works have been presented in solo and group exhibitions both in Germany and abroad. Exhibition venues include, among others, Galerie Soldo in Vienna, Galerie Salon 36, and the Haus am Kleistpark/Tempelhof Museum in Berlin. In addition, he has participated in group exhibitions at various Berlin galleries and project spaces, including ARTLABBERLIN, Galerie Semjon Contemporary, and HAZE Gallery Berlin, as well as in Hamburg, Halle, and Doberlug-Kirchhain. 

Work Title: Das Labyrinth der Grenzen

Cihangir Gümüştürkmen transforms the large meadow behind the barn into a walk-through labyrinth whose paths offer no clear exit. Here, orientation becomes an experience and a game involving movement, decision-making, and a sense of being lost.
