Meggie Schneider (b. 1963 in Cologne) is a Berlin-based artist and filmmaker. She studied under Harun Farocki and Heinz Emigholz (among others) at the University of the Arts (UdK) Berlin.
In her walk-in installations and films, she decontextualizes fragments of everyday life in order to rearrange them as discursive spaces for memory and identity. Schneider’s works have been presented internationally, including at the Berlinale and at the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris (Festival Hors Pistes). In addition to her artistic practice, she teaches as a freelance lecturer and works as a film editor. She is represented by Arsenal Filminstitut e.V. in Berlin.

TAFEL KIOSK PFADE [TABLE KIOSK PATH] is a living, participatory project in the garden at Am Markt 20; a laboratory that transforms encounters. Referencing Jean-Luc Nancy’s ontology of “Mit-Sein” (being-with; part-of), the installation questions and blurs the line between observer and creator. A network of interactions emerges from the inter-play of on-site research and immediate interaction in the garden – at the table, at the kiosk, at the blackboard, and among the plants. Over 10 days, individual perspectives, wishes, and lived experiences accumulated in 10 community diaries will create a collective archive. 3 large blackboard walls act as an open forum for word-creations and sketches - a co-creation, a tribute of shared perspectives. The kiosk and long table invite in-put. Shared offerings from personal gardens and storage shelves – fruit, vegetables, herbs, books –become carriers of community exchange. Here, the experience of exchange grows; the between and the unexpected open a universe of possibilities right on site.
