Her artistic practice is also characterized by the use of sound, voices, and acoustic codes. She integrates the sounds of taiko—the traditional Japanese art of drumming—into her work. She has been practicing taiko since 2018 in a Berlin-based ensemble and deepened her understanding during a trip to Japan, where she attended workshops with Kodo (Sado Island) and Bonten (Tokyo). 

Simono has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions as well as performances, including at SO36, Tacheles, and the Kulturbrauerei (Berlin), currently at the former St. Afra Convent in Meissen, as well as at the Gutshof Britz and the Atelierhof Werenzhain.

Work Title: Rhythm / Flow – ImPuls des Wandels

In her site-specific solo performance Rhythm / Flow – ImPuls des Wandels, audiovisual artist Simono transforms the darkened barn at the Atelierhof Werenzhain into an immersive experience of sound and light. Inspired by the architecture of the space and the sounds of the location—from the rural surroundings to the history of the former tavern—she designs a minimalist graphic score. Performed live, percussion and taiko—with its precise movements derived from Japanese katas—merge with visual elements and regional memories to create a dense, pulsating experience.
