Since 1989, Arendt has participated in over 200 exhibitions worldwide, including at the Museum of Modern Art in Moscow, the Russian Museum in St. Petersburg, the State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow, and the Janco-Dada Museum in Israel. Other venues included the Royal Academy of Arts in London, the Vilnius Academy of Arts, and the Darb 1718 Art Center in Cairo, as well as galleries and art centers in Paris, Berlin, New Delhi, and Istanbul.

In addition, Maria Arendt has been represented at renowned art fairs, including Artissima in Turin, the Art Paris Art Fair, and Art Rotterdam. Her works are held in major public collections, including the Shchusev Museum of Architecture and the Moscow Museum of Modern Art.

Through embroidered architectures and drawings on canvas, Arendt explores movement and time. Born in Moscow and living in Israel and Germany, Maria Arendt has been in transit for many years. She can easily carry her textile works with her in her luggage. They function as mobile architectures in which space, memory, and change overlap. Her site-specific works address vacancy and transformation both in Lusatia and everywhere else. Her embroideries trace the outlines of lost places, thereby connecting her artistic practice with the collective perception of those who view her work. Arendt’s works document places in transition—in transit—while simultaneously reinterpreting them anew.
